Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Java SE Subscription

All production services are using Oracle JDK.
  • Rarely run into critical problems
  • Performance is better in the latest offering (JDK 11)
  • Support is not very responsive
  • Documentation for low level APIs need improvements
  • Performance is much better by using their latest offering (Java 11)
  • However, on the other hand migrating to the latest version is a big effort.
Azul Zing might perform better for some use cases, but its advantage becomes much narrower in JDK 11. Operational cost is much higher for Azul Zing, also price is higher.
We don't leverage its support much since problems don't occur very often, but overall it's OK.
