Overall Satisfaction with Paycom

Paycom is used both by my employees and contractors. I love it because it allows me to onboard both employees and contractors, manage multiple payrolls, and give compliance information to everyone using automation and scheduling. It shares information through feeds with my benefit providers, so I have one less administrative task to complete every time we hire or terminate. We have their core product, their time and attendance, their cobra, their document management, their governmental compliance. We do not have their learning nor their recruiting modules.
  • Pre-boarding.
  • Benefits administration and COBRA.
  • Government document creation and sending.
  • Learning integration to 3rd party sites.
  • More EDI feeds into retirement services.
  • Less risk with the sharing of personal information.
  • Easier mobile applications.
  • Less time spent on payroll.
  • Less time spend in data entry in benefit portals.
  • Less time spent in government reporting.
Paycom had the best ROI for the features we wanted and more customization options. Namely did not have all the features we wanted and UltiPro's sales representative did not seem think it was worth their time to demo to us, so we went with someone who wanted our business who could do what we wanted to do for and with our employee data.
It is amazing for a small to a mid-sized company where the employees are in control of their own information; HR does not need to keep track of direct deposit slips or changes in W4s. It is easy to set up and easy to use for employees, managers, and administrators.

Support and Self-Service

Yes, this took place of our HRIS, our Payroll webportal, and part of our LMS, which had a performance feature to it.
It has saved employee headaches for trying to remember where to go for what.
It has saved me, the administrator, a headache for having to wait for the HRIS to sync to payroll - one hour for EVERY change.
when I had previously run our ACA reporting to create the annual 1095, it was a manual process to complete. It took me full week to enter and review, and then I had to personally mail all of the documentation. Paycom automated it for me and it now takes an hour. I also don't need to mail them myself and employees can see a virtual copy in their portal if they lose it.
Managers are now able to see their employees' bank of time off - I no longer have to keep monthly reports on the workforce.
Employees can manage their own direct deposit changes and benefit changes. They complete it themselves on the portal. This saves me time and it eliminates the possibility that I may make a human error.

Using Paycom

150 - all employees and most contractors use paycom
1 - I am the only one who uses the support feature on a regular basis. it's relatively low maintenance and there's a department of 2 (the VP does call from time to time).
  • automation of HR processes
  • employee self service
  • federal government reporting
  • cobra benefit administration
  • benefits administration
  • 3rd party surveys as a task
it's pretty solid as a platform with little daily maintenance needed. It does almost all of what we need.

Evaluating Paycom and Competitors

Yes - We replaced our old HRIS, CBIZ, our ACA portal, and payroll portal, CBIZ payroll. We wanted something that would be more automated and physically process faster. We wanted a better employee portal. We wanted Cobra services and an easier portal for governmental reporting. It used to take 4+ hours for payroll; now it takes 2. It used to take a week for ACA reporting; now it takes only hours. We wanted employees to securely change direct deposit information and benefits without having to "bother" HR for every change.
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
Really, we just wanted an upgrade with better security features.
Nothing in the evaluation process, but I would have insisted on a few trial runs of a few items before rolling them out to the employees.

Paycom Support

They have a great success staff from 8 to 5. After-hours staff is non-existent. When they do not have an answer, they go to someone who can. Typical turnaround time is immediate if there's a solution or 24 hours if it requires a little more research. Both email and calling work. The staff is on a team, so if your dedicated person is unavailable, someone from their group can speak to you.
