Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

We use Paylocity for HRIS, onboarding, payroll, learning, time and attendance, expense management, simple recruiting (ATS), and performance appraisal and goal setting. We are a federal contractor and accurate timekeeping is critical as we are subject to a random unannounced "floor audit", and we need to timely bill the government against our grants.
  • time card entry and job allocation
  • onboarding, allowing us to keep a paperless HR
  • LMS training uploads are available in all formats, not just SCORM
  • need automatic prorating of first and last paycheck for salaried employees
  • performance module is just plain klugey! Hard to understand the flows, easy for employees to miss SAVING their self appraisal comments and goal comments
  • integration with time and attendance seems very manual, lots of levers to pull to get someone in a time group
  • a few years ago, there was no functionality to create a new base rate for OT when using shift differentials - maddening!
  • expand the LMS courses for compliance so employees don't have to wade through the same sexual harassment preventing courses every year
  • easy way to keep Execs updated on demographics
  • heavy reliance on timekeeping for billing purposes
I feel like I'm left behind, frankly, on automation! I could use a one hour class on it with individual attention.
We are such a small group (16 employees plus a few 1099s) that we don't need to automate recognition -- it's a very collaborative team. We could use Surveys and enjoyed having it available for free during COVID, but now we have reverted to Pollys in Teams which are not nearly as functional -- but they are free!
TriNet is horrible -- no other words necessary! Against Rippling, Paylocity generally meets some of their functionality and value. Years ago we selected Paylocity because we were leaving ADP and needed more functionality, better customer service, etc. Paylocity was priced right for us.

Do you think Paylocity delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Paylocity's feature set?

Yes

Did Paylocity live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Paylocity go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Paylocity again?

Yes

Because of the number of manual steps in processing the payroll, I think it's best suited for smaller companies. I use Rippling for another client and their 360 integrations with apps is easier to find and manage -- adding Go1 for training, workers compensation pay as you go, FSA and commuter benefits are all so easy to install and manage, for example.
