Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
We use about 80% of Paylocity's functions. I love that there are so many features within one system. We utilize the software for performance reviews, behavior/performance tracking, personnel files, recruiting, applicant tracking, onboarding, data insights and KPIs, pulling reports, running payroll, time tracking, trainings, as well as an overall source for our employees to stay up to date on company happenings. There are more features within the system that I could utilize such as marketplace, HR Edge, surveys, etc. and I plan to look into them more in the coming months.
Pros
- The personalization of each platform. I am able to tailor the recruiting and onboarding processes to fit perfectly for our needs as a company.
- How Paylocity pulls data and makes illustrations and chart based off of it. The data insights from this are pretty incredible and actually help us to make certain business decisions.
- The depth of the platform and how all-encompassing it is. I am able to basically run a report for anything that I need. When it comes to our benefits plans, we need a lot of reports, so this is incredibly helpful.
Cons
- In Reports and Analytics, it would be great if there was a feature to be able to run a report based on specific time periods. Currently this is not an option. What I need is an option to "Last Year" and one for specific dates, NOT payroll periods. As a benefits admin it is critical to be able to pull reports that are for the prior plan year and right now this isn't possible.
- In the performance review section, there should be a way to add and change formatting within the reviews that I create. Right now, I can't. There is no way to boldface, highlight, underline, add new paragraphs, etc. It can make it extremely difficult for our employees to read and process the review because there's no clear separation between sentences/paragraphs.
- In HR & Payroll tab it would be great if we could filter by Active during a selected time period. This would allow me to grab people that may no longer be active, but who were during a specific time period. Again, I often need to run reports and create spreadsheets on everyone who was active at one point or another during some time period.
- 100% better data driven decision making. We use the data from Data Insights tab to create HR KPIs, track how we're doing in certain areas, and look at YOY data.
- Paylocity has tools that better hold leaders and managers accountable. From performance reviews to recruiting, there are notifications and reminders sent out and also ones that can be triggered by me. This is really helpful at subtly reminding our employees that there are things to be completed.
- The multitude of different features I think has helped our overall work culture. We have new and improved ways of communicating and sharing information across business lines. People, even if they don't work in the office, are feeling connected and included in day-to-day operations through using Community.
I think that some of the automation tools are great but there is always room for improvement. More specific reports and filtering abilities would save great deals of time.
This biggest time saving measure that Paylocity has offered me is the fact that every single HR function is all under one roof within this system. Being able to bounce back and forth between different tasks (i.e. recruiting to performance, performance to payroll) and have all the information just follow is amazing.

We have used community sporadically for different things but it has always worked great. I would love to use it more but it is hard to get some employees engaged with the website/app when they're also constantly having to check email, instant messaging, internal intranet, etc. as well.
The peer recognition has been adopted by a few people within our organization but we never formally adopted it as a company. We have an internal recognition program that we use that is integrated with out company's core vales.
I love the survey feature. I just began to use it recently but I think it's great. I love the templates that are offered as well as the ability to automate when the survey is assigned. This is SO nice. I now have 7 day, 30 day, and 90 day new hire surveys being automatically sent out to our employees when they reach each milestone.

Paylocity is modern and all encompassing. The number of features is unmatched. Their system is mostly user-friendly and easy to work with.
Many other systems can either be one or the other but rarely are they both.
