Overall Satisfaction with Pendo.io

Pendo is used to solve several different problems. 1. Product usage metrics. Who is using what features, and how often are they using them. 2. In-app messaging. In-app notification for newly released features, planned downtime, reminders, etc. 3. Automated onboarding. We have several onboarding flows that have greatly reduced the amount of live onboarding that our team delivers. 4. In-app help. We've tagged several confusing features and provided additional guidance to users. 5. We've also used Pendo to generate a refer a friend link and automatically copy it to the user's clipboard.
  • Great at capturing product usage metrics and allowing the user to tag features/functions at a very detailed (specific) level.
  • Allowing users to extend the capabilities of Pendo by inserting HTML/CSS/Javascript.
  • Automated onboarding and product walkthroughs/tours.
  • Excellent customer support and a solid community when you need help.
  • I find the reporting and analytics to be a little light. They could improve custom reporting capabilities.
  • Would like to see the capabilities of the Pendo tagging tool built into the platform. (don't launch a separate product). I find the tagging tool does a much better job at selecting the components to be tagged than the platform does.
  • Sometimes takes a while to refresh counts when adding a new tag.
  • Product usage monitoring.
  • In-app messaging.
  • Automated onboarding/product walkthroughs.
  • Has reduced our costs for live onboarding sessions and improved the user experience.
  • Time to first use on our core functions has been reduced by about 50%.
  • Eliminated the delays in having the Engineering team update messages/help, which typically could only be updated during a monthly release. Now, the Product can do this whenever required, and it is immediate.
I prefer Pendo because it monitors explicit interactions down to the minutiae if needed. It provided data on an individual account and user basis, as well as a holistic view across the entire customer base or segments. (which you can also define).

Just a great all-around tool. This is the third company in which I've used the product. (I bring it with me wherever I go.) I'd recommend it to any Product Manager who really wants to understand how their product is being used (or not used). I can't think of a reason not to use it other than it can be a little expensive for a small organization.
