Overall Satisfaction with PeopleGuru

We use PeopleGuru for managing our employees HR information, timekeeping, and payroll. It is hard to find a system that fits any business perfectly, but they have been very good at working with us to address any system issues. We have automated our necessary forms, recruitment, onboarding, HR data management, timekeeping, payroll, & tax filing.

  • Ad Hoc Report writing
  • Position change future dating
  • Timecard reporting including approval (multiple reports to show timecard with approval)
  • W2 Reconciliation Reports (had to calculate wages to verify accuracy)
  • Benefit Plan effective dating & how it affects the deduction effective dating (results in payroll errors if not careful)
  • Cost is reasonable
  • User experience has gotten worse
  • Report writing had become much easier & less limited with variables that we can use
We are often met with the answer that certain items are hard coded into the system, and it can't be changed or will take a long time to develop. When the problem is affecting payroll or benefits administration, I am confused how other companies are not having the same issues.
We used both Kronos & Ultipro (now UKG) before switching to PeopleGuru, and the price is definitely better with PeopleGuru. As for performance from a payroll perspective, I liked both Kronos & Ultipro better. We left Kronos because the HR software was lacking, and left Ultipro due to timecard issues. PeopleGuru's payroll processing doesn't list Earnings, Deductions, and Taxes in the area where you would typically edit any of the 3 for adjustments. Instead, you need to open and close the payroll several times to pull reporting & verify Deductions/Taxes because this info isn't shown when processing manual edits.

PeopleGuru has improved their software significantly over the past 2 years, and much of this has to do with their support stepping up where the software is lacking. Because many of these changes resulted from issues that we had with the system, it is difficult to recommend when there is still room to improve. The workflows confuse supervisors when a form needs approved because they can click a poorly named "Approve" button that allows you to skip over signing the PDF. Future dated position changes do not work even though they claim to have this capability. The benefit plan & deduction effective dates are hard linked by a defined number of days, and this causes the deduction to begin or end to soon if the Payroll Coordinator doesn't catch the error. That being said, no software is perfect, and they have been responsive to suggested improvements.
