Pitchbook review.
Overall Satisfaction with PitchBook
We use it to analyse VC and PE trends, primarily looking at investments into the UK, where they come from, and in what sector they are materialising. This is one of the few databases we have access to on VC and PE, so it fills an evidence gap on those types of investment and complements more FDI-related analysis.
Pros
- Enables filleting of information.
- Provides a strong universe of data to analyse.
- Provides research and trends reports from Pitchbook specialists.
Cons
- More ability to look at where investments have originated from.
- Sometimes the site could be more navigable.
- As an analyst, I would like to see more data about the businesses/projects being invested in and the investing company.
- It enables us to know more about VC and PE and advise colleagues.
- It saves time to have a database available rather than having to do more manual searching.
- The pivot tables allow a quick piece of analysis to be completed.
The quality of the data generally seems to be of a good standard, but I also do not have anything else to compare it to. I use Pitchbook to analyze investment trends. I think others in the organisation use it to identify companies and what could be considered more operational tasks.
