Overall Satisfaction with Planview PPM Pro (formerly Innotas)

[Planview] PPM Pro [(formerly Innotas)] is used to manage our portfolio of IT projects across the enterprise. It is also used for resource management and time entry. We use the tool to prioritize project work intake and monitor ongoing execution of projects. Reporting and dashboards are used to provide visibility to stakeholders and executive leaders.
  • The configurability of PPM Pro is the best I have seen in any of the PPM Pro tools I have used in my career. We are able to configure work flows that integrate into multiple PPM processes and integrate or isolate those processes with the others as needed.
  • The reporting capability is on par, and in many cases better, than other tools I have used. The ability to combine data elements and perform create unique calculations for reports is the best I have encountered.
  • The tools available for resource management are robust and provide great visibility into resource capacity and unfilled demand.
  • The integrations with the other tools in the Planview product line allow a full range of planning, management, and team activities in a format that suits the needs of each individual team.
  • The base API is not a REST based interface and is difficult to use for integration with other systems in the enterprise.
  • The UI for the maintenance of the task schedule for projects can be a bit cumbersome , although the spreadsheet style editor helps somewhat. The Gantt view is not interactive.
  • The workflow engine is designed only for initial project intake, and does not allow for an integration of the work flow with the project from start to end, so it can't be used for routing artifacts like change requests, ancillary project approvals, etc.
  • It allows us to maintain a 95%+ on-time, on budget delivery of IT projects in our portfolio
  • Stakeholders and executives have visibility to the status of the IT project portfolio and know from week to week, where there are issues needing their attention.

In addition to [Planview PPM Pro (formerly Innotas)], I have also used a variety of homegrown/custom PPM systems and Microsoft Project, Microsoft Project Server, JIra (with Confluence), and some other systems whose names I cannot remember. PPM Pro, by far, is the best of all of these application systems for not only managing a portfolio of projects, but also handling the intake process and resource management/time entry needs of the organization without jury rigging processes or entity constructs in the tool. Everything is kept clean, with the right tool for the right function.
Overall, [Planview PPM Pro (formerly Innotas)] is simply the best PPM tool I have used in my career. Gartner says it is one of the best, and the use of the system bears this out.
