Overall Satisfaction with Planview Projectplace

Planview Projectplace is currently being used across just a single organization in our company. We use this amongst the project management team to manage the workflow of incoming jobs, and jobs that are currently being worked on. This software helps the PMO stay organized when collaborating on projects, and keeps us on track when it comes to deadlines being met. We are only using the English language.

Overall support from the Planview Projectplace team is very strong. If there are any questions or help needed, the team will get back to us in a timely manner. There are many ways to reach the support team: chat feature, emails, phone calls. The team will always route us to the right personnel, and let us know what the fix is.
It is simple to use for the average tech-savvy user. It does take a little bit of time to get used to the software, but with some due diligence and sometimes being spent on the software, anyone can pick it up. After getting used to the program, one will really like the features and how easy it is to use this software.
A program that is similar to Planview Projectplace I have used is Microsoft SharePoint. SharePoint is the foundation of all document shared sites and is probably the first software that we all used when it came to these types of things. Planview is still simple like SharePoint, but it does come with a little more bells & whistles.
Planview Projectplace is great for both internal and external use. When you need to access PDF or word documents quickly, this software makes it very simple. Collaborating amongst the team is also very easy because of the features it provides. Everything is cloud-based, so it is important to keep in mind that one must have a strong cellular service to view documents quickly.

Evaluating Planview Projectplace and Competitors

  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
Single most important factor would probably be product usability. Making sure that everyone who will be using the product likes it and knows how to use it. If it was anything a little too difficult or just not in our realm, we probably would've gone with another product. And, the next most important factor would have to be price. We wouldn't want to overpay for a product either, just would not make sense.
I felt that we did a thorough evaluation process when we were looking for new software. We watched a bunch of different video reviews and read through numerous reviews as well. We tested each product making sure they were suitable for our uses. We tried to make things not work in case we would run into any issues, but for the most part, everything checked out.
One feature is that it helped us communicate with one another better. Working on different tasks has been more streamlined, and all updates are made live. This tool suits any project management company well, if used properly. Helped us save a lot of time when having to do things manually as well.

Using Planview Projectplace

20 - They represent the project management office team. The team consists of different levels of project managers, schedulers, and field engineers. We use this to help track project progress and then convey that information to the field operations team. This is a great way for the project management team to show off data and info to even executive members too.
  • Project progress
  • Project planning
  • Communication
In-house, we have zero people that support Planview Projectplace. If and when we run into any kind of bug, we do our best to troubleshoot the problem ourselves. If we are unable to fix it, that is when we reach out to our representative or the Planview support team for help. They are always available whenever we need assistance.
  • Exporting reports
  • Use for scheduling
  • Have field personnel use it
We probably will renew our plan with Planview. When we first started, it was a little bit of a struggle because we had to train up the new hires on how to use this software. But after some time, everyone got the hang of it and really sees when it is such a great program.
  • Agile methodology
  • Action items, tasks, and issues management
  • Prioritize resources and workloads
  • Delegate work assignments
  • Share and review documents
  • Track time spent on activities
  • Collaboration features
We haven't really used another software that is similar to Planview Projectplace. But, this program is a very very great tool for any project management team. We are able to track our project progress. We are able to view documents and share it amongst the team. The options are endless, and we are learning something new every week.
We haven't really used this feature yet, but we do use Planview Projectplace to communicate with our internal and external stakeholders. For example, we want to show certain information and data on the report for our internal stakeholders. When sending something to the external stakeholders, we might not want to show that same information. We're able to re-run the report and alter what is shown.
No, we are not.

Planview Projectplace Implementation

I don't have any key insights on the implementation of Planview Projectplace, but we were very satisfied with how the software was implemented in our organization. We were able to hit the ball rolling. It took some time to setup, but once we were all setup, everything worked very smoothly.

Planview Projectplace Training

If one is tech savvy, then learning how to use this software on your own is not a bad way to go. But for the average joe, I would definitely recommend that person to get some formal training. Overall, from my experience, it was pretty quick to pick up and navigate through.

Configuring Planview Projectplace

Overall the product's configurability is just right. If Planview Projectplace offers too many features where one can configure absolutely everything, this will only confuse the user. There will be too many features for one to grasp. Being able to configure and tailor the product to one's liking is more a advanced skill.
N/A. I would suggest it is best to reach out to a rep or expert for this kind of help. One does not to reconfigure so many things.
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
No - we have not done any custom code

Yes, there was a time I was trying to figure out how to export something and I wanted the report to look a certain way. The support got back to my request fairly quickly and was able to guide me on how to manipulate the report. Made a few minor adjustments and it was how I wanted it to read.

Planview Projectplace Reliability

We haven't scaled this to a larger level yet, as this is still in one of our organizations. We do see the potential where it can be scaled to a larger scale, but we taking it one step at a time. This is the reason why I rate it a 9, we know the big potential but have not done it yet.
Here and there we run into little errors, but overall everything works pretty smooth. When a project does have lot of data in it, it will lag and take a little longer to load, but I don't see these as issues. It can mean my computer is slow or even my internet is slow.
Similar to my earlier response, overall it does load quickly. When our project does have a lot of files in it, it does take a little longer to load. When running reports, they get finished in a timely manner. It does depend how much information that the report does have. But it is pretty fast overall.

Relationship with Planview

The sales representatives were very easy to work with. They were not pushy with the sales, and were not trying to over sell us on anything. They laid everything out on the table in regards to features and price. It was very easy us to ask them questions without making it seem like they were over selling us.
They were still very easy to reach even after the sale was complete. We still use them as a point of contact when we have any questions, and they are always ready to assist. If they are unable to answer any technical questions, they will direct us to the right person to get that question answered.
One tip is to let them know everything you want in this software. They will go through each feature and plan, and everything is well laid out for one to make a decision. If one were to go with the basic plan, there is still the option to upgrade as well!
