Overall Satisfaction with Procore

I currently use Procore within a steel fabrication shop. We purchased it to help in managing our documents, such as drawings and RFIs, traveling in and out of the office. It also appeared that it was going to aid and assist our erection crew by allowing them to post photos and give jobsite updates.
  • The transition from job to job is nice and smooth. Everything is oriented and set up to that particular job which helps keep everything in line.
  • The ability to review and note changes on drawings is helpful.
  • You can build your directory for your entire company as more projects are started.
  • Procore is really geared towards general contractors. We are a subcontractor and we don't need about half of the functions provided.
  • The upload time for drawings was absolutely atrocious. One time it took almost 2 hours to upload 13 drawings. It has gotten a bit better over the last few months but it is still much faster for me to shoot somebody a dropbox link.
  • The drawing recognition could use some work. The idea of automatically recognizing drawing numbers and revisions is fantastic. The issue i have found is I still have to go through every drawing and make sure it renamed and labeled everything correctly.
  • We would have to spend more money on changing software to make it where procore saved us money in the long run.
  • the overall timeframe it took to upload drawings made us take a hit on the cost of that particular operation.
  • The Procore Drive software that came with procore is a nice touch. I feel like it was underutilized in it's capabilities. Expanding this software to work hand in hand with the schedule, photos, etc within procore itself, would reap huge benefits.
We haven't integrated any software
The input of the information takes about the same amount of time that any other software on the market. The time saving area is after the initial information is put into Procore. The ability to follow up and access those items quickly and with ease has really helped us on our ROI
We have an older staff here out our company. It took a while but we managed to get them trained to where most of them have a better understanding of Procore than a lot of the General contractors that we work for do. Not to say that this has helped to retain these employees but it definitely looks good on resumes with Procore being such a popular software
  • FabTrol and FabSuite
I inherited Procore when I started working here. I had previously used FabTrol Pro to aid in document control and project management. Tekla EPM is the software of choice for project management here. Procore was brought in to maybe take over as the sole software for all management areas. The issue with that is FabTrol and FabSuite are both directed at the structural steel industry. Procore was made to be a more generic construction management software. Over the last 2-3 years, Procore has made a hard push to become better suited to work with subcontractors and it is becoming more appealing to a broader audience.

Do you think Procore delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Procore's feature set?

Yes

Did Procore live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Procore go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Procore again?

Yes

Procore has done a great job of molding to today's market. As a subcontractor, there aren't many software options available for project management and document control. Procore didn't do it for us either when they first started. Now, they have multiple options or levels of software that you can purchase to fit your needs. We don't need everything a General Contractor needs so we can but the subcontractor package and it works much better for us and we definitely get our moneys worth.

Using Procore

5 - Project Managment, Document Control, and Production control. Outside of Financials and Estimating, this is the core of our business. From the time a contract is issued to us until our steel is hanging in the air on site, we are in use of Procore. We love when our General Contractors use Procore because we know the job is going to move a little bit smoother (hopefully)
1 - I support provide local support for Procore in our office. I am 20 years younger than the next oldest person so anytime a software is being used then i'm the go to support person. I believe all that it takes to support Procore at our level is maybe a year of experience with Procore and a general understanding of the office movement of the construction industry.
  • Being able to go get drawings without having to rely on the contractor to send them to us
  • Being able to check the status of submittals at my leisure so I don't pester the contractor
  • The storage of information is probably the best thing about Procore. I can go get and and all RFIs that have been issued for a project.
  • Drawings
  • RFI
  • Submittals
  • Not that these were complicated to begin with, Procore made them simpler and faster.
  • As we grow so will our need for Procore. Hopefully our field crew will be able to adapt better
As long as our General contractors are using Procore, we will continue to use procore. Plain and simple. They dictate how we have to operate. no sense in making life harder than it has to be.

Evaluating Procore and Competitors

Yes - It replaced a lot of our Microsoft office software for standard daily tasks. We were looking for a software that was a one stop shop. We wanted to not have to open and close multiple items to complete one simple task such as sending drawings out for approval. we would have to file the drawings, open excel and fill out the drawing log, and then open up word to make a transmittal. Then we would go into outlook and formulate the email to send it all out. Procore can handle all of that in one spot.

We had a lot of our general contractors using Procore so we thought it was a good idea to hop on board and make it easy to collaborate. We started using Procore before they had a subcontractor's option. They have since made great strides in making sure that every aspect of a project is covered in Procore at all price points.
We might take a closer look at the other software we use for our specific business and see which software like Procore can integrate those specific programs so that all of our departments can work together. This isn't the case at the moment since our accounting software does not work with Procore.

Procore Support

The support team at Procore is fantastic. They have always listened to their users. When we started using it back in 2017, they didn't have a subcontractor option. You had to get it all or nothing. They listened and eventually developed options for subs. They send out polls and questionnaires on what you'd like to see or change how something works.

We did not. We don't use all of Procore so we figured we could wing it. It's worked out pretty well for us over time. We haven't ran into any major problems since we have been using it and we hope it stays that way. We didn't feel like the cost would justify our needs.
Back in 2017, I was new to the company I currently work for and one of my roles when getting hired on was to get familiar with procore and get it implemented. I was having a little trouble with the drawing recognition so one of the team members took over my PC and manually showed me how to go about it. They didn't just explain it over the phone.
