Overall Satisfaction with Qlik Replicate

As part of our migration from an on-premises Netezza Enterprise Data Warehouse to Snowflake we also replaced dozens of lengthy ETL extract processes with Qlik Replicate. This gave us one location with multiple system's data in near real-time for operational reporting as well as the ability to simply transform and load data into the Data Warehouse without the lengthy extract process. As a result, we start the process later in the day and finish much earlier despite continuing to add more data and complex processing.
  • Loads data from ERP systems.
  • Non journaled/logged sources can be run as full load only processes via API calls.
  • Monitoring and alerting.
  • Ability to enable source system owners to start and stop tasks for their maintenance windows.
  • A wizard for partitions for parallel loading.
  • Better way to analyze latency.
  • Better documentation for using flat files as a source.
  • Enabled a near real time Operational Data Store.
  • Much faster ETL times without lengthy extracts.
  • Less impact on source systems.
  • Much less development time to get data into the cloud.
We replaced IBM’s Change Data Delivery software (Change Data capture specifically for Netezza) because it had a bad user interface, it was difficult to set up, and it was very hard to troubleshoot errors. We selected Qlik Replicate (then called Attunity CDC) because it has a great user interface, it is relatively easy to set up, and it is much easier to troubleshoot. You can tell they have decades of experience and expertise in the product.
It is a mature product that covers all the bases.

Its great for loading data from ERP databases (iSeries, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server). Not that great for Netezza. Does minimal DDL (no unique constraints other than PK, no foreign keys).
