Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Qlik Sense was used in our Aviation Security Operations across scheduling, planning, finance, human resources, and operational departments. It allowed us to manipulate and visualize millions of rows of data quickly and simply, and to connect data tables from numerous sources.

Pros

Data manipulation.
The speed at which it can organize and manipulate millions of rows of data.
Ease of connecting data from different sources.

Cons

Qlik needs to provide better training, it cannot be only examples of simple financial models shown in the advanced class.
Ongoing support.
More visual customization options.

Return on Investment

Reduction in administrative time used to create models.
Able to handle large datasets across multiple tables that previously was impossible.

Alternatives Considered

We evaluated Domo prior to Qlik Sense, but the cost was prohibitive. Qlik Sense made financial sense and the company in other parts of the world was already using Qlik View. Qlik Sense had a small footprint, which was also attractive for us.

Likelihood to Recommend

Qlik Sense would be well suited for companies that market or sell products. You can create financial models, track where you should target your marketing campaigns, and you can see how it all connects to each other quite easily. Unfortunately, there are several challenges when dealing with shift data, particularly with date time ranges and operational management in a security services industry.
