Overall Satisfaction with Remote Desktop Manager

Working in a large environment with many different IT groups using different tools, we were constantly struggling with keeping passwords in sync, lack of documentation, and tool sprawl. We needed a solution that allowed multi-user access, a centralized database so everyone had consistent data and role-based access control with logs. We chose Remote Desktop Manager for both its features and its affordability. We liked it because it allowed us to share information quickly and easily. Our information security team liked it because it allowed for MFA login protection, logging, session recording, and password aging reports. It's rare that InfoSec and IT agree on anything, but Remote Desktop Manager is one of those tools that everyone will like when they start to use it.
  • Multi-remote apps (RDP, VNC, Powershell) in one multi-tabbed interface
  • Rich API so we can sync to and from our CMDB and other tools
  • Ever increasing features making the product more valuable
  • The documentation tab. Seriously. It will change your life
  • Without reading the documentation, people will only use about 10% of the app's true capabilities
  • The native ftp/ftps/sftp tool is lame, but the FileZilla integration works great
  • I'd love to see them work more Azure/Graph API into the product
  • Centralized interface shared across multiple groups
  • Role-based access control
  • Multi-remote tools (RDP, SSH, VNC, even web)
  • It has greatly increased our DR posture by centralizing local admin passwords
  • It has reduced time to deploy systems
  • It has reduced system outage times through use of the documentation tab for knowledge sharing, like recovering from known events
From a multi-user perspective, we felt Remote Desktop Manager outperformed mRemoteNG and RDCMan as both of those tools required we copy/share their datafiles to keep everyone up to date.

Do you think Remote Desktop Manager delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Remote Desktop Manager's feature set?

Yes

Did Remote Desktop Manager live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Remote Desktop Manager go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Remote Desktop Manager again?

Yes

I recommend Remote Desktop Manager to all of the teams in IT in my firm. Some of the less technical ones find it a bit intimidating at first, but I find that after about 4 weeks of using it, I wouldn't be able to take it from them if I tried. Remote Desktop Manager Enterprise is not the cheapest app out there, and if a smaller group does need collaboration, or only needs to be tabbed RDP capabilities, there are other tools that can do it.

Using Remote Desktop Manager

50 - Various IT groups (customer support applications, enterprise business systems, intranet developers)
5 - A very small team supports Remote Desktop Manager. We do not get help tickets, there's been only one time where the product actually caused issues (had to update) to fix. We use Chocolatey to keep Remote Desktop Manager up to date and lifecycle maintenance of the software has always been very easy.
  • Easy remote access of systems
  • Centralized control and documentation
  • Logging of management
  • We use the APIs to sync to our CMDB to extend what information is in Remote Desktop Manager
  • We used Remote Desktop Manager to track local admin passwords on our systems and use PowerShell with Remote Desktop Manager integration to be able to quickly change passwords across all systems and document them in Remote Desktop Manager
  • One vendor supports only one account for opening support tickets and requires MFA. We loaded the MFA QR code into Remote Desktop Manager, allowing multiple users to be able to login to the vendor, reducing the dependency on one user/device
  • PAM (Privileged Auth Management)
We have renewed Remote Desktop Manager for 4 years and the product just keeps getting better and better. Those who use Remote Desktop Manager can't imagine working without it.
