Overall Satisfaction with SAP Crystal

SAP Crystal Reports is used to create custom reports for our inventory tracking system. All of the reports must be edited and maintained using SAP Crystal Reports.

Each custom report is used by one or more users at the company. SAP makes it very simple to create and maintain our customized reports for our inventory system.
  • The program is pretty intuitive to use
  • There is a really good tutorial section on the website
  • Integrates well with our inventory system
  • Adding a new table from a database could be a little easier
  • Moving data around reports tends to take a little more effort than what seems necessary. I do like that I can move by using arrow keys, just don't like the way things sometimes snap into position
I only used SAP Crystal reports. This was due to the Inventory system requiring this software.
  • Our reports are more easily used. Instead of having multiple reports to get the information, we have one that shows all that we need.
SAP Crystal Reports is well suited to be used when there is a database that has already been well defined. If the database is not defined, the program does not work quite as well.

Combining reports can have some issues. I like using SAP Crystal Reports, but when I need information from a different table, it can be hard.

Using SAP Crystal

1 - I am the only person at my company to use SAP Crystal Reports. I am a software programmer and I.T. person for my company.
1 - Basic knowledge of how to use databases helps immensely, but I am sure a person with no experience could figure it out.
  • We could use it to make reports for our accounting.
  • We could use it to help with our ISO initiative.
  • Inventory Status
  • Inventory Costs
  • Inventory Serial Numbers and Lot Codes
  • We have not used SAP Crystal reports in any unexpected ways at this time.

Evaluating SAP Crystal and Competitors

  • Vendor Reputation
  • Third-party Reviews
The biggest influence on our decision to purchase SAP Crystal reports was our inventory tracking system using it to create its reports.
There would be no changes.

SAP Crystal Implementation

It takes almost no time to implement SAP Crystal Reports. It is installed locally for me and I was able to use it almost immediately. I just had to do a little bit of learning to get it to start the first time.
  • Figuring out how to install and use the software correctly the first time. After that, it was very easy.

SAP Crystal Support

I have not had to use SAP Crystal Reports' support all but once. It was very good.

No - We do not pay for premium support because we do not use SAP Crystal Reports super often.
I do not have an experience to elaborate on.

Using SAP Crystal

Overall, I have no real issues with using the software. It is pretty intuitive to a programmer. I believe that most people would be able to understand how to use it with only the tutorials offered by SAP on their site. No one should be scared to try it out.
ProsCons
Like to use
Relatively simple
Easy to use
Technical support not required
Consistent
Quick to learn
Convenient

None
  • Creating new Reports
  • Combining reports with new data sources, though this may be due to the way my inventory system has the data sources structured.
