Overall Satisfaction with SAP Data Intelligence

SAP Data Intelligence was used within our team as part of a short-term project together with SAP. Data Intelligence is not used across the whole organization. For our use case, we used [SAP] Data Intelligence to predict the likelihood of a claim and then took this prediction as an input to the calculation of prices for different insurance offers.
  • Easy handling even without prior experience
  • Possibility to use Python and R libraries
  • Debugging pipeline failures is not as easy and straightforward
  • When working with SAP DI, new tabs get opened frequently when actions are performed. Having 10+ open tabs is not very handy
  • No real impact yet - potentially increased sales in future when presenting showcase to clients
- Difficult debugging, sometimes it does not show where an error occurred so the error finding is difficult
- Lot of tabs get opened when working with the tool which is not very user friendly
- Pipelines and notebooks were sometimes deleted and could not be restored
- Frequently used libraries (such as hana_ml) could not be installed via the dockerfile and should potentially be pre-installed for better usability
Customer support was not very prompt and delayed our overall project timeline

Yes

SAP Data Intelligence is very well suited to experiment with different approaches to creating a prediction or algorithm (e.g. Python vs R). The tool works especially well when connected to other SAP products such as SAP BW4HANA (backend) or SAP UI5 (frontend). Since we had to implement some workarounds to create our final pipelines (e.g it was not possible to use the hana_ml libary in Python), the tool is best used outside of client work to receive enough practice and experience.
