Overall Satisfaction with SAP HANA
By all organizations but just for some business areas. In particular retail.
- Speed
- Reliability
- Performance
- The problem is when migrating from Oracle DB you need to perform some adjustments.
- It would be great to have a better view of the administration.
- The cost of TB is enormous.
- Positive is user satisfaction. They are more happy with new reports developed on HANA as it is faster
- Negative is the price. When we need more space, we are required to ask for money for departments.
We have definitely benefited from this capability as real-time analytics is a topic which has been required by the business for a long time, however, we were not able to provide a working solution with old databases as they were simply not performing well with lots of data. However, with HANA, we are able to create reports that extract historical data in just minutes and also finalize business background jobs that would take ages.
This is something that has somehow not been very addressed. So I cannot elaborate on the data types, sorry.
It has changed the way we are developing as of now. We no longer do all the coding in the ABAP Layer, rather we create CDS and AMDPs where we can leverage the potential and speed of the database. We have changed the approach and now we get the information already filtered and structured from the database, avoiding the unnecessary load of the application server.
We looked into Oracle possibilities but SAP HANA was the better choice given it has better integration and support from SAP.
