Overall Satisfaction with SAP HANA

As a consultant, I implement business scenarios in SAP HANA. At my current project, we implement solutions based on BWonHANA and use SAP HANA developments for more complex use cases, e.g. where we need to join various sources (and/or) texts together or need to do some sort of pre-selection/ranking based on certain measures. For this we use calculation views. We currently do not use HANA for XS applications.
  • Graphic view modelling.
  • Easy joins and unions.
  • Easily calculate new columns.
  • Better input parameter functionalities.
  • Code auto-fill in formula editor.
  • Simpler authorization/role concepts.
  • Use machine learning for accurate predictions.
  • Complex business questions can be answered.
  • Faster development times.
SAP HANA is a great backbone to BW/4HANA and enables great use of virtualization and on the fly calculations whereas BW helps sort/structure business data initially and make use of lots of standard functionalities.

SAP Analytics Cloud is a front end tool which can be used for great modern data visualizations which may be based on data from SAP HANA. In combinations, business could make great use of the cloud functionality as well as on the fly calculations to reduce overall footprint of company resources.
I usually do not have direct contact regarding HANA support issues. I find that there may be a few hickups here and there in regards to e.g. input parameters or SQL statements which one can usually resolve or work around themselves, so no huge support is required.

SAP HANA is well suited for more complex business use cases where different data needs to be joined together from various sources or if there are some pre-conditions/queries that need to be executed to return a reduced data output. It is also well suited to apply out-of-the-box machine learning algorithms from AFL/PAL library directly within BW/HANA ecosystem.
