Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use SAP Litmos specifically for the training within a subdivision of our company. We have a very robust training program built on top of SAP Litmos that helps train both internal employees as well as external partners, customers, and potential job candidates for our company. As such, it's a vital link because we need to have an external ecosystem also trained on this subdivision.

Pros and Cons

Dynamic content.
Knowledge tests.
Progress and tracking of training.

Doesn't scale well for all screens.
Can't expand embedded video to cover the entire window.
Can time out during lengthy training.

Return on Investment

Streamlining training.
Exposing training to external parties.
Track training among new hires.

Alternatives Considered

I've used SAP Litmos and also Salesforce myTrailhead. SAP Litmos, in our implementation, doesn't feel as gamified as myTrailhead, and gamification seems to be a big trend in training now.

Usability

SAP Litmos is intuitively easy to navigate. Courses can be clustered into learning paths (which can be especially important for new hires or for creating role-specific learning) or can be taken a la carte. The learning paths are broken into new, in progress, and completed, which is extremely helpful, especially for new learners.

Likelihood to Recommend

SAP Litmos is well-suited for robust training scenarios where the content needs to be engaging, dynamic, and well-built. It's less appropriate where a company doesn't have a dedicated training content building staff and thus can't create the level of content the system needs. However, I'm sure even less built out organizations could benefit from the simplicity of the system.
