Overall Satisfaction with SAP S/4HANA

A large portion of our business is operating [SAP] S/4HANA. There are parts of the organization that are operating PeopleSoft, Oracle and SAP ECC ERP systems. That is because of the size of the organization and how fast we are acquiring companies. However, our defacto platform in the next half decade is going to be [SAP] S/4HANA.
  • End to end integrated suite
  • SAP's emphasis and roadmap
  • Product suites that integrate with S/4HANA - Ariba, Concur and Fieldglass etc.
  • Implementation has intricacies
  • Training requirements are high
  • UI needs modernization
  • Positive - Fully integrated processes
  • Positive - Supply chain collaboration
  • Negative - Initial slow down due to training and change management needs
  • We have evaluated NetSuite ERP also. Hard to use and in some cases hard to find administrative documentation, lack of great support from product vendor forced us to look away from NetSuite. Also NetSuite's UI was no where near the modern and efficient UIs we wanted to use.
  • [SAP] S/4 HANA on the other hand has great customer support, more experts in the market and within our company to readily help us resolve issues.
  • Our pre-existing SAP tools also drove our decision to select S/4 HANA

Yes

Are you happy with SAP S/4HANA Cloud's feature set?

Yes

Did SAP S/4HANA Cloud live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of SAP S/4HANA Cloud go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy SAP S/4HANA Cloud again?

Yes

If you are someone from the SAP world, [SAP] S/4HANA system will be fairly easy for you to get used to. A lot of our SAP ERP experts had no problems smoothly moving towards S/4 HANA. Implementation itself had some issues though and that might have been better with our attention to SAP's best practice content.
[SAP] S/4HANA product support though may not be the best has adequate support. Customers always have access to customer success teams based on the level of agreed SLAs. We have seen instances where engineers were on standby to help us through difficult project cutover phases. This commitment to customer success was visible and appreciated.
Well suited -
  1. SAP's rich ecosystem of products will make it easy to develop or implement integrations
  2. For organizations that traditionally operated SAP ECC or other SAP ERPs
  3. For companies capable of operating hardware or ones with cloud hosting partnerships.
Less appropriate -
  1. For companies with restricted budgets
  2. For companies with issues in ramping up talents that are capable of handling this powerful beast of a software
