Overall Satisfaction with ScienceLogic SL1
We are using SL1 as a direct replacement for the Solarwinds Orion product. The plan is to use it to assist in streamlining break/fix issues through integration with the Cherwell ticketing management system though the integration is currently not completed, yet. We are monitoring not only servers and storage appliances but routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls WAN and MAN utilization.
On-Premise Only
- Monitors CPU's, memory, swap space on servers.
- NIC cards such as discards, errors, latency and availability.
- Logs are collected and made easily viewable through 'Investigator'.
- Coming from the Network side, bps and pps are hard to see.
- Finding devices in the product isn't intuitive.
- Map usage is very clumsy and seems to be added as a last thought with little functionality.
- Lacks a single pane to quickly see what's up or down.
Do you think ScienceLogic SL1 delivers good value for the price?
Not sure
Are you happy with ScienceLogic SL1's feature set?
Yes
Did ScienceLogic SL1 live up to sales and marketing promises?
I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process
Did implementation of ScienceLogic SL1 go as expected?
No
Would you buy ScienceLogic SL1 again?
No
- Streamlining of integrations will be nice if we can get them working.
- A single pane of glass exists for a particular network device and is very informative.
- User management is nice so as to control who can see what and even when.
- SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (npm), SolarWinds Network Topology Mapper and SolarWinds Engineer's Toolset
As I stated earlier, SL1 seems to be best used for Servers and Network Storage devices. It doesn't seem to be a direct replacement as SL1 doesn't have a configuration management piece, visual maps are very crude and not user-friendly, and the building of the maps is not intuitive, nor has the functionality of Solarwinds Topology Mapper.
