Overall Satisfaction with Siemens NX CAD

We use Siemens NX CAD to fully develop and Design components and assemblies into the final product to visualize the product as well as to create manufacturing drawings. Siemens NX CAD works well as a whole product system to work within all development teams, as well as having traceable on who has parts open, and the history of changes
  • 3d modelling
  • Motion analysis
  • Detailed drawings
  • Accountability of users history with parts
  • The speed at which it processes large parts
  • Ease of dimensioning complex geometry in drawings
  • Improving the user interface to make it more in line with most other software currently on the market and making it feel like its in 2022
  • Being able to show more than one measurement on the screen at the same time.
  • There is a big benefit for the approval process
  • Revion control
Compared to other Cad software which it competes against, it's by far the least user-friendly out there. As most of the user interface seems to be in line with the Windows XP era. The way some features are used is very dated, going back to how early cad software was used back in the 80/90 and has not been designed for younger users. Nor is it similar to another type of software out today making it harder to get used to it
Siemens NX CAD does allow for better collaboration with users downstream of the process, but not for better collaboration in real-time like other packages are now offering. The biggest saving grace of Siemens NX is its process management for understanding who has had items open and for seeing who has signed for each process and product making traceability easy
The only reason why NX was chosen was due to the process management, and revision control that's built-in. And being able to limit access to files and if they can be modified.

Do you think NX CAD delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with NX CAD's feature set?

Yes

Did NX CAD live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of NX CAD go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy NX CAD again?

Yes

It's great for complex and large projects eg the automotive or aerospace industry as it. It has a good way of managing and controlling all the large volumes of models. But it's not suited for doing small projects quickly on the other hand. Like one-off bespoke designs.
