Sigma gives us direct access to the various data sources our company uses. It also grants us the flexibility to join in CSVs, etc., against those databases for more custom reporting. The flexibility ensures that our analysts are positioned to deliver better insights and execute better strategies for our clients.

Ad Hoc Analytics

Data models help us connect various data sets with regular refreshes. This reduces the amount of time spent standing up ad-hoc reports over and over again.

Alternatives Considered

Tableau Desktop, Mode Analytics and Looker

I personally prefer Looker or Tableau, but Sigma offers some flexibility that Looker simply doesn't when it comes to data sources and ingestion.

Likelihood to Recommend

Overall I think Sigma is well suited to individuals looking for an entry-level BI option with a relatively small learning curve. It offers more than enough flexibility to accomplish basic and intermediate tasks, especially in the advertising world, but may lack some of the robustness that comes with a tool like Tableau.
