Overall Satisfaction with Skype for Business (formerly Lync)
Skype for Business is being used by my department. It is an excellent way for employees and management to keep in contact with each other. Management can monitor employee's active status through Skype. It's also a great tool for teams to communicate with one another. It is quicker and easier then sending e-mails for when casual information is needed.
Pros
- It monitors the status of employees. It is smart enough to tell when a user is "projecting" their screen.
- Skype gives users the ability to organize contacts in groups and limit who employees can contact.
- Skype chat, audio, and video is great for working from home. It's come in useful during the shelter in place order in communicating with the team.
Cons
- Skype for Business is used with Microsoft Outlook a lot. The compatibility between the two can be enhanced.
- It has room for improvement with regards to the image and audio quality of videos.
- More customizable features would really enhance user's experience.
- Skype for business has left a positive ROI as it works great for employees to communicate.
- It's a great tool for management to monitor the status of their employees.
- Desktop sharing makes virtual meetings quicker and more useful.
Skype for Business is a much better tool for anyone using Microsoft products. Using OneDrive, Outlook, and Skype, there is a lot of compatibility that you won't get from other software. It is efficient and easy to learn to use. Troubleshooting minor bugs on Skype for Business can also be done with ease.
