Overall Satisfaction with Slack
I use slack to communicate with Florida developer communities. It is a great way to get talent and support for technical questions. I also use it to promote our latest innovations and the latest company news.
- Slack does very well with notifications. You can create reminders for people or an entire channel.
- Slack lets you add basic text formatting. For example, a tilde around a text will let you add a strike-through.
- You can start a search from your message box. Type "/s" followed by what you want to find.
- There's no Boolean search. Say you want to find all messages and use two terms, and you will get any messages that have either term.
- No way to notify all messages from a particular person.
- Away messages are basic. Teams are either active or away.
- Good search for previous conversations or decisions that were made.
- Great way to communicate and to get an overall team status report.
- A nice way to organize, share and find files for a project.
- Has help me keep teams organized and efficient chat.
- The 3rd party integration helps us a lot with our overall ROI.
- The downside is that it is more expensive than MS Teams when you upgrade to higher-tier plans.
Slack is great for small businesses and offers extensive third-party integration. However, as good as the audio and video is, the competition is a lot better and needs improvements. Slack is reliable and easy to use, and you can easily search files. However, the storage limitations might be a big problem.
