Overall Satisfaction with Snagit

Some of the people in our SEO Operations department use Snagit to record training sessions of SEO techniques and procedures. Some of the SEO procedures we train people on can have a lot of steps, so Snagit allows us to have a quick and easy way of recording training so that we can revisit it later.
  • Easy to use
  • No training needed to use it
  • High quality recordings
  • When it stops working, it's very difficult to fix
  • Unreliable functionality
  • Easy to use
  • Cost-effective
  • No training needed to use it
  • Less time spent training employees
  • Employees can focus on 'big picture' notes rather than minute details knowing they are being recorded
After a while my Snagit stopped working and uninstalling and reinstalling wasn't fixing it. I decided to switch from Snagit to Format Factory's "Screen Record" program. I like this program because it does the same thing that Snagit does, and it's also free. My coworkers use Snagit still and like it a lot. I would probably still be using Snagit if it worked for me.

Do you think Snagit delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Snagit's feature set?

Yes

Did Snagit live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Snagit go as expected?

No

Would you buy Snagit again?

No

Snagit is great if you're the kind of learner that doesn't have a very good memory. I would highly recommend it for use during Zoom meetings, Slack meetings, Google Meet meetings, and other meetings where a remote coworker is teaching you how to do something. It's also useful during presentations, because it allows you to record not just the presentation file but the comments and context given by the presenter. I would not use Snagit for things like game streaming/game recording as it doesn't seem to be made for this purpose. I also wouldn't use Snagit to record only audio because it captures both video and audio.
