Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM)
We use IPAM to automatically track the IP addresses in use throughout the organization, and record what devices are using those IPs and DNS names. We have this linked with other systems automation tools (inc. VMware Orchestrator) to automatically assign appropriate IP addresses to servers and other devices when they are added to the network, which saves us time and reduces human error.
Pros
- Searchable IP Address Management
- IP Automation
- Ease of use
Cons
- Reliance on Microsoft SQL server - would be nice to be able to install on other DB platforms
- Price
- The ROI time for our installation was 12 months, once automation benefits were realized.
The integration with the other SolarWinds products makes for a single pane of glass for management of your systems, which reduces administrative overhead compared with other solutions.
