Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds ipMonitor
SolarWinds is used in the Technology department to analyze network traffic flow for all switches throughout the district.
- Network monitoring. Can monitor network flow with great detail and accuracy.
- Vendor agnostic monitor and log analysis. It works with all of our vendors and I can use a single application to monitor my network instead of three separate pieces.
- Log file capture and analysis is quick and accurate.
- Auto capture of devices across the network is time consuming
- Setting up rules and permissions
- Distributed roles and responsibilities can be a little too confined to a determined box
- We experienced a network issue that our provider stated was us generating more traffic that our allotted bandwidth. Solar winds allowed us to identify and traffic actual flow of traffic and quantitatively prove we were not saturating our bandwidth connection.
- We used the log summary to identify an employee that had more access than they should have and were access information they should not have had access to.
We used numerous free solutions that provide minimal and focused response. Solar Winds has a much larger scope in the resolutions it provides to us.
