Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We mainly use it to manage network performance. We use it across all our sites.

Pros and Cons

Set up is easy. It is not complex to set up.
Solar Winds support is okay. I wouldn't say it is the best, but average.
NPM does what we need, mainly monitor network bandwidth and critical server (host).

We really don't use SolarWinds for more than just checking network bandwidth or performance.
Perhaps they need to evaluate their pricing model. Paying per interface can be very expensive.

Return on Investment

Solarwinds NPM is good for mid-size businesses to enterprise businesses. The cost is worth it to have a network monitor solution in your network.

Alternatives Considered

Logic Monitor is a SaaS (cloud-based) solution and we wanted an on-prem solution. Also, SolarWinds has been in this type of business for a long time.

Likelihood to Recommend

We're a small shop, with less than 10 nodes. SolarWinds reports what we need for our network to address any latency issues.
