Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (NPM)

We mainly use SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor to have a visibility on the load of our servers and network bandwidth. We use it to monitor all of our network devices and servers across all of our 4 sites. SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor helps us to know if anything goes wrong within the environment. Also, the alerts feature adds a great value for us to handle the problem quickly. For example, when a critical server CPU utilization goes high, we get an immediate alert to check the issue. Another example is that when VPN connection is lost to a remote site, we instantly receive an alert that the remote router is down so we can act fast to get the service back.

  • History timelines for each sensor
  • Web portal is sometimes slow
  • Reporting is difficult and not intuitive
  • SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor has saved us many times, but I do not have an ROI measurement yet.
I recommend SolarWinds because it has accomplished all that I want from the technical perspective as a network engineer based on the trial version that I have evaluated. Second thing is that our management has chosen SolarWinds because it has a perpetual license.
I would like SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor to be easier and more intuitive to use, especially for reporting and customization. I also would like it if the portal pages are much faster to load.

We have utilized SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor more efficiently over time. As we have begun to use more advanced settings, we have required help from SolarWinds support. We need to keep the system updated to comply with the security standards and to benefit from the new features in the updates if any.
