Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor
Solarwinds SAM is a great tool for network monitoring. It allows you to monitor and analyze server performance as well as application performance from sql server to iis. Solarwinds supports a very wide variety of applications, and tools. For example, I was looking to tie our backup system into solarwinds, and I found the plugins for it in solarwinds to allow me to be notified if there are any issues. Solarwinds has helped me immensely in troubleshooting and alerts when problems occur.
On a side note, there is a huge learning curve to it's use. It takes quite a while to configure, and use it to its full potential. Though once it is working properly, it will not fail.

- Solarwinds is great for being able to monitor almost anything you need it to in a network.
- There is a learning curve to using solarwinds.
- Updates tend to break the logic for all alerts.
- It can be difficult to configure, though the support from solarwinds is awesome.

- Solarwinds fails at times to update itself when there are server changes.

Solarwinds has been reviewed with PRTS, and it is better of the two because of it's plugins and ease of use.
