Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor

It is being used across the organization. We have offices in US, UK, Singapore, and Dubai. SolarWinds helps us monitor the servers in all these locations and gives us early warnings of issues.

Pros

  • We are able to dial in on services that are important to us on specific servers and monitor if these services are running, and should they go down, SolarWinds can be configured to restart the services. This is a great help if this type of issue occurs during off hours.

Cons

  • I don't believe we are experiencing any issues or lack of functionality at this time.
  • We do not do an ROI but we feel that having SolarWinds is a necessity and not an option. We have a network vendor that also manages our perimeter devices and they also use Solarwinds.
We have used Solarwinds since I arrived 10 years ago and have not considered other solutions.
We keep our SolarWinds dashboards up on a large monitor in our IT area so we can graphically see any issues like high memory, CPU use, when servers are down, etc.
