Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor
We’re using it across the whole company. We use it to monitor AD, services for business applications, and services for web servers. It allows us to identify failed services for our business applications. It also allows us to see monitor AD replication and DHCP address allocation. It also tracks if our websites are up or down.
Pros
- It is a quick and easy install
- Easy to monitor built-in Windows services
- Gives the ability to monitor custom services
- Ties seamlessly with the rest of the Orion platform
Cons
- Basic monitoring requires many licenses
- Alerting and monitoring can be very chatty
- Lots of configuration is required to reduce false-positives
- We are able to do much more with a smaller staff
- We are more efficient if find the cause of problems much quicker - don’t chase the wrong cause
- Require the service of external network support much less often, saving those costs
- Able to identify problems very quickly, before our users are greatly impacted
Very inclusive product, but too expensive and had more tools than we needed. Like the al a carte approach.
