Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use SolarWinds Server and Application Monitor across our entire organization in order to monitor in real-time the status of various aspects of our application and server environment. We use it to keep track of our production servers, services, and applications in order to provide world-class information technology service to our customers (other company employees).

We are not fully implemented at the moment, thus, ROI has not been positive.
We have seen enhanced response times due to alerts sent by SolarWinds Server and Application Monitor.

Alternatives Considered

SolarWinds Server and Application Monitor stacks up against the alternatives very well. The reason we chose to go with SolarWinds is its offering of, and integration with, additional Orion Suite tools such as Network Performance Monitor and NetFlow Traffic Analyzer to round out our network monitoring.

Support Rating

I have only had the need to submit one support request thus far. The reply was quick and I am currently working through the answers they sent. However, I am not to the point of resolution. This rating will likely change as the process continues.

Usability

We are still implementing a usable network graphic to display in our IT office. However, this is not complete. This rating will likely change as that process progresses.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you are looking to monitor servers, services, and applications (on those servers), SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor is well suited for you. I have had difficulty implementing Print Queue monitoring, but admit that I am not well-versed on how to implement it. I plan to contact support for guidance in this area.
