Solarwinds Take Control Review
Score 10 out of 10
Overall Satisfaction with Solarwinds Take Control (formerly SolarWinds MSP Anywhere)
We use Take Control to support our MSP as well as ISP clients both internally and externally. Virtually everyone in the office uses it including our graphic designer if they need to work from home. Being able to use take control in its various capacities allows us to quickly and easily diagnose a multitude of varying issues from misconfigured residential routers to major service outages on our customers systems from anywhere in the world.
- Easy to use remote support.
- Easily and securely access sensitive systems.
- Easily set-up our end users with the ability to remote access to their own desktops as needed.
- The end-user interface could be made to be easier to use and more instructions could be provided.
- Cannot send password reset requests for end-users.
- More branding options would be nice for a more seamless customer experience.
- Our existing clients are far more satisfied with the functionality and ease of use with Take Control over other leading competitors' software, and it comes at a far more affordable price point that it's now being offered as a perk to certain clients rather than an addon service.
Internally we keep a policy to treat all clients like they are government entities when it comes to security and, a number of our customers have HIPPA and Local Government oversight the fact that this is built-in and seamless is a critical requirement and the fact that this software goes above and beyond with most of those requirements, while still keeping an easy to use interface and low load levels on the host machine for functionality, both we as the MSP and our clients are very happy with how well it's working.
Nearly overnight the ease of use of the technician's console and session key generation has doubled ticket resolution speeds for our ISP customers having issues with their routers or needing assistance with things such as simple password changes or other concerns that they have on a connected device. It has also allowed for a number of remote "tech" demos and much faster communication and demonstration of software both at the client's location and from our offices in a remote session. This has allowed our sales teams to more effectively demonstrate systems as well as allow for us to virtually meet with clients that would normally be unavailable.
- SolarWinds N-central
- SolarWinds Network Bandwidth Analyzer
From the management side of things, the ease of use of the centralized dashboards on both the SAAS and Orion side of things greatly shorten our morning daily checkups as well as quickly and clearly flagging action items and monitoring connectivity and outages quickly and efficiently.
We were primarily a team-viewer customer before this point but the continued increases on cost, feature issues as well as core functionality and load issues we were beginning to see on the host machines we started looking for other options. As we were already a solar-winds customer utilizing the SAAS and Take Control for our Managed customers it was a no-brainer to look into Take Control. After a short review and the fact that we are already very familiar with the system via our management dashboard, it was an easy yes.
It is phenomenal as a remote service tool, as well as a Teamviewer alternative for end users. But its per device interface is lacking, as well as how technicians are set-up. Once you learn the ins and outs its quite easy to use from both sides. However, it can be a little quirky when initially set-up.
