Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop
With the decentralized work from home company logistics of the post pandemic area, being able to remote into a client workstation is critically important to keep my team up and running. I use Splashtop Business to do this. It's easy for the end user to enable or install, and the administration tools work flawlessly. I couldn't do without this software in my toolbox. And as a bonus, it's cross platform in its Admin and Client software, so I can support Windows, Linux and Mac from my Windows desktop, Linux laptop, or Macbook Air. I couldn't have designed a better remote support application.
- Remote admin support with optional pre installed client software showing in my management screen.
- Optional SOS one time install for support on machines that aren't in my usual client pool
- Simple file transfer from client to admin.
- Good video rendering over the network that can be used for remote work if needed, even in graphic demanding tasks.
- Capabilities to see limited hardware and software specifications on client workstations, including the logged in user, OS version, and IP address at last log in.
- Although the software does have linux support, more development could be used here.
- Continue development on the virtual video rendering and streaming compression.
- Incalculable ROI benefit when considering other alternatives.
- Each service call I got required about 30 to 50 minutes of fumbling around to setup remote support. Now it's near instant, and in most cases my client doesn't have to do anything but sit back and watch. I get between 5 and 50 calls each day. You can do the math.
- I have 4 remote offices, some more than 1000 miles away. Instead of having dedicated IT at each location, I can centrally manage from one of any of my 5 offices, or anywhere else with an internet connection.
Security is getting more important by the day. I have confidence this software maintains a secure connection from me to the remote workstation. And I can easily sever the connection from either end.
I was able to easily deploy the customized streamer client application, which automatically connects the client to my management console. Deployment couldn't be easier.
Yes - Splashtop has replace Windows Remote Desktop (RDP) and Teamviewer. RDP is insecure and doesn't automatically Nat through the firewall (for obvious reasons). And Teamviewer is expensive and cumbersome to deploy.
