Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop
I typically use Splashtop between home and customer sites. It allows me access to my home network from company locations.
- There are no ads or complicated configurations or unnecessary restrictions - Splashtop is the most straightforward and efficient remote desktop product I have ever used in 20+ years of using remote desktop solutions.
- It does a great job of managing multiple monitors, supporting file transfers, changing display resolutions, clipboard operations, and any other feature I have ever needed.
- For a very reasonable price, I depend on Splashtop daily as part of my standard 'toolbox' of applications I depend on, across multiple Windows and Android platforms. Uptime is as good or better than ANY online product I use regularly.
- It would be nice if Splashtop supported multiple simultaneous connections to multiple computers for the cost of an individual home user
- Strangely, I sometimes forget the name "Splashtop" and it may take me a while to find it. A more catchy, easier-to-remember name might be welcome.
- Splashtop has no doubt saved me many hours of time, allowing me to access software, code, tools, and documents, which would otherwise block me from satisfying the requirements of a specific job.
I would welcome more robust security features, such as devices like Yubikey or Authenticator apps for integrating multifactor authentication. These may be config options that I have not used but the default setups have always been purely password-based, along with the ability for someone else online to manually grant access to another party seeking access, which is pretty reasonable.
I don't remember struggling to use Splashtop, as it acts and behaves very similar to other RDP products. I believe it was probably easier to learn and has fewer weird configuration options and setup features, nearly always using very reasonable and expected defaults.
