Overall Satisfaction with Squarespace
I use Squarespace to build, manage and maintain websites for my small business clients who are involved in a variety of industries. Squarespace's "designer" look and feel, along with well-designed templates overall, makes it ideal for companies where creative representation is especially important. This includes graphic designers, photographers, architects, etc. The look is achieved through wide-format imagery, extensive availability of designer fonts, use of white space, etc.
- Ease of use with its drag and drop interface.
- Beautiful templates — more so than other easy to use builder tools like Weebly or Wix.
- Extensive and well-designed elements, including fonts.
- Images are presented beautifully.
- Drag and drop interface is not as intuitive as it was when it first launched. It's a bit more challenging to use than, say, Weebly.
- Its ecommerce functionality isn't as robust as something like Shopify.
- Setting up grids or sections isn't as easy to do as other tools.
- Changing templates to see how content may look isn't seamless.
- My clients are very happy with the results they're getting from their websites.
- They don't really manage the sites themselves, so can't really speak to the ease of use for them. However, I find it relatively easy to build good looking sites for them. This in turn makes it economical for them.
- Making changes and updating their sites can be done relatively quickly. We can embed whatever elements they need, like video.
- We can easily manage updates to their on-site SEO.
As they say, form follows function. After that, it’s about finding the template that’s the best fit for your brand. If that’s all you need, Weebly will satisfy. You can custom visualize your brand with logo, fonts, colors and more.
For graphic or interior designers, artists or ad agencies, for example, where design is central to what you offer, you’ll want to highlight this capability. In that case, Squarespace has its own set of beautifully designed templates.
With WordPress, you can access hundreds if not thousands of gorgeous templates available for purchase. There are also third party templates available for Weebly and Shopify, which you can purchase separately. Just make sure they’re fully vetted to work properly on the platform.
If you're looking for an ecommerce solution, Shopify or BigCommerce is the way to go.
