Overall Satisfaction with StarWind HyperConverged Appliance (HCA)

When I first started this role, all applications and services ran on physical servers. I migrated those physical servers to ESXi and re-deployed those applications and services as VMs. Over time, we needed more HA capabilities and StarWind HCA along with vSphere Essentials met that need at a very good price point.
  • Ease of deployment
  • No need to create a storage network with their Virtual SAN
  • Great ProActive Support
  • Virtual SAN setup requires more storage than traditional
  • Steps need to do maintenance can be a little confusing
  • Had to use Windows Server licenses at time of deployment
  • Postive impact, filling a HA need
  • Reduced footprint of physical servers
I can't say enough about ProActive Support. Issues were identified and resolved with ease. It's one less thing my small IT team has to worry about on a daily basis.
We have had no unplanned downtime or outages since implementing StarWind.
We looked at some tradtional solutions from HP and Dell along with Nutanix. StarWind had the best solution and price overall.

For a SMB, StarWind HCA is a great solution - well priced, easy to manage and top notch support. I can't think of a scenario where it would not be well suited.
