Overall Satisfaction with StarWind HyperConverged Appliance (HCA)

Our two node Starwind HCA cluster hosts our internal environment as well as environments for some of our MSP clients. The system has proven itself time and time again to be much more reliable than our original failover cluster, leading to less troubleshooting and downtime
  • Stable
  • Easy to manage
  • Great support
  • Storage expandability, but that might just be due to how the nodes were purchased (prior to my hiring)
  • Better VM performance than our original HA cluster
  • Less time spent troubleshooting issues due to stability
The proactive support is nice, but didn't provide much value to us. Nearly all issues that triggered an alert from the proactive system were felt immediately by users and prompted a swift internal response while the alerts were often sent several hours later, either after the issue was resolved by internal technicians or the issue was transient and resolved itself. Our interactions with support were excellent outside of the proactive monitoring
Unplanned outages are few and far between with Starwind HCA and the culprit is more often Windows itself than Starwind's software the handful of times it does happen. Long term outages have not happened with our HCA deployment

Yes

Starwind HCA is a great option for anyone who wants a simple, stable, ready to go solution out of the box. The solution is well suited for a modest internal environment all the way up to a full MSP hosting dozens of client environments.
