Overall Satisfaction with StarWind Virtual SAN
We needed a highly available environment but did not want extra hardware. We set up a two-node cluster using StarWind Virtual SAN to provide this functionality without purchasing extra hardware. In selecting StarWind Virtual SAN, we found that it was straightforward to use and requires no maintenance and has been working with no issues since installation.
- Cost effective vs physical hardware
- No maintenance required on the SAN software
- Just works once set up with no intervention
- During set up there are a lot of best practice changes required to the server, but their support team take care of this
- It would be good to be able to pause a node in starwind so that you can reboot a node with out lots of warning emails
- Less hardware to manage as rack space is currently limited
- The uptime of our servers is now great as they can fail from node to node in the event of a server issue
We did not look at other software packages as this had everything we needed from a software san solution.

Yes, as part of the license, we took the first-year support included.
Yes - Yes, there was a bug with the system sending emails using Office 365. This was resolved in a reasonable time frame as they had to update the software.
We had performance issues with our cluster. We thought it was related to the VSAN. The support agent checked all the settings and benchmarked the server. We then found out that it was the underlining storage that had the issue. This was verified. Support continued to ask if there was anything else they could do and did not just close the ticket.
