We use Synthesio to track the negative and positive sentiments about the company. It's used by the marketing team globally. It helps us track what customers are saying. It helps us to track media coverage of our company globally and address the issues. It helps us in getting the ideas for building our brand globally and to be aware. It also helps in increasing our knowledge about competitors and our clients' social activity. It is a very useful tool.

In our organisation marketing focuses on the social media handling part, so this is used by the marketing, PR, and branding teams only.
I have used Meltwater, Hootsuite for the same tracking purpose. Every tool has it own pros and cons. The best way to decide is go by the reviews of the people who have actually used it. Budget is yet another factor to consider.
If you wish to track daily news and your presence on different social media [platforms] in one place then I would recommend Synthesio. This tool is very easy to use and understand. You can track and take corrective action on the negative statements being made on different social channels in different regions.
