Overall Satisfaction

  • Identifies conversation around a product or service
  • Tests brand perceptions around the 5 W's & how (ex: who is talking about my product? where are they talking? how are they describing it?)
  • Influencer search on Twitter should be better. MAP weighs too much on the volume of a retweet, so it sees spam bots as influential
  • Like all text analytics tools, the software does not understand sarcasm in speech
  • Online word-of-mouth, understanding what percentage of the conversation is dedicated to certain terms, where the conversations take place, and a (somewhat brief) look at the demographics of those talking about the researched product/service
Analysis often cannot go beyond common sense. 1-word associations of buzzgraph lack context
Would recommend examining other tools before committing to Sysomos (Map or Heartbeat)

Evaluation and Selection

Radian 6 was the runner up. We selected Sysomos because the engine is slightly faster and yields better looking reports. Also, Sysomos has superior text analytics.

This is an online Software as a Service product.


Varies person to person but generally they are helpful. The sales team is especially bright & useful in training team members for initial runs through MAP



The product is faster than its most relevant competitors


  • Ideally, the tool would allow users to manually change the sentiment returns of comments from within MAP, and MAP would save the edited version. The users could fix poor sentiment returns via crowdsourcing.
