Overall Satisfaction with Tableau Desktop

  • It helps me to analyze individual performance, for example of one of our hotels, compared with other Hilton hotels in the region.
  • It helps me to visualize trends and identify outliers very easy. I can take action faster on any issue that I identify.
  • Data visualization is the best thing Tableau does, also the availability to apply filters and date ranges on the flight is fantastic.
Tableau focuses in telling the story, which is a fundamental piece that is hardly found today on any analytics suite. Adobe Analytics is fantastic collecting data but it is very rigid when manipulating the data and building meaningful reports. In my opinion Adobe Analytics is a better tool for monitoring web performance and tracking specific goals. But Tableau offers an incredible flexibility building reports on the flight and analyzing the information that matters. MicroStrategy is slowly catching up, but its tools still rigid and some times very inaccurate, for instance if you wants to build a report using geo-data. MicroStrategy has more users, most of them corporate (4,000) than Tableau (2,600) which give them the benefit of economy scale. they would be able to improve the product quickly and why not, catch up with Tableau in the future. Tableau for me is a Mac and MicroStrategy a PC. Tableau is clean, smart and functional, MicroStrategy is useful, but ugly and too cumbersome sometimes.
This is the best data visualization and analytics tools I have ever used. I'll continue using Tableau moving forward. They keep improving the tool with speed, sharing capabilities, data connectivity and readability. It is a pleasure to use.
  • I'm spending at least 30% less of my time crunching and analyzing data; as a consequence I can dedicate more time to tackle specific action items that directly impact revenues.
  • I can create data stories quickly and share them with my co-workers. Views are self explanatory and because I can update them on the flight, it is easy to express my point of view
  • Price is affordable and deployment is faster and easier when compare with tools like MicroStrategy or Adobe Analytics
For data analysis I think is the best tool out there. MicroStrategy has similar features but not the flexibility that tableau offers to create and manipulate dashboards and reports on the flight. Both Tableau and MicroStrategy are very fast, but in terms of flexibility Tableau is king. Plotting geo data in MicroStrategies is a disaster, Tableau does a much better job identifying countries, cities and regions around the world. The connectivity to external files is smoother in Tableau, in MicroStaregy it is not easy to update a data source once is connected with MicroStrategies desktop. Both Tableau and MicroStrategy are good sharing reports, but i like more the interface of Tableau and the capability to save specific views.
