Overall Satisfaction with Tableau Desktop

We used Tableau [Desktop] to create dashboards of our product marketing strategy's outcome and analyze their performance. In one dashboard we would narrow down on 3-4 metrics to track their performance, ingest the data in excel sheets, prepare the data and then create visualization dashboards. The graphics of Tableau [Desktop] and ease of use made it easier for everyone in the team understands the dashboard and provides good insights.
  • The Visualizations graphics are really good and the color options help in designing attractive charts. They help to convey more information and can be made interactive.
  • You can add filters with offer you to plug and play with values and understand different outcomes.
  • You can drag and drop options while creating charts and dashboards. also it is a very fluid layout.
  • When handling use amounts of data the system slows down or freezes.
  • You need to update parameter as your data changes
  • You cannot import visuals from other platforms
  • We were able to improve promotional marketing campaigns by 40%
  • The real time tracking helped by 10 % only
  • The decision making process improved for us by 40%
I have used Power BI as well, the pricing is better, and also training costs or certifications are not that high. Since there is python integration in Power BI where I can use data cleaning and visualizing libraries and also some machine learning models. I can import my python scripts and create a visualization on processed data.

No

Yes

Would you buy Tableau Desktop again?

No

It is a good tool for creating beautiful visualizations and sharing dashboards. It does offer a variety of features and also making interactive dashboards. It is easy to learn and create custom visualizations really fast. It does offer good API connectivity to gather data. But it lacks the structure for data cleaning and processing.
I have never really used support much, to be honest. I think the support is not as user-friendly to search and use it. I did have an encounter with them once and it required a bit of going back and forth for licensing before reaching a resolution. They did solve my issue though.
[Tableau Desktop is a] good to start in the data visualization journey if you want really pretty-looking charts and dashboards, but if you need more functionality like more statistical analysis, huge loads of data it is not the best solution. Having some data cleaning features would be really helpful. Also providing more integrations and not building everything from scratch and custom ones could be more beneficial.
