Overall Satisfaction with Tealium iQ Tag Management System

We use Tealium across all business units. We're not completely deployed (we've got a lot of properties), but we're getting close. We still need to get mobile integrated; that's all deployed directly. As for business problems, it's a key part of data standardization.
  • Versioning and rollback features are excellent.
  • Many tags are supported out of the box.
  • The data layer is powerful and easy to populate.
  • Custom tags can be complex; using extensions to populate data layer objects to feed custom tags is tricky.
  • Mobile SDK?
  • We can flip marketing tags on and off very quickly.
  • We can correct issues that arise in our tracking without getting a developer involved. Sometimes this is a temporary patch while we wait for a permanent fix.
Adobe Dynamic Tag Manager: this really seems like just a sales tool for Adobe. They don't have containers for many popular tags (some are competitors, for example). In addition, being tied to Adobe means that switching Analytics vendors will also require a change of tag management. Not flexible.

Ensighten: Too demanding of development skill. It seems like every tag requires some kind of complex jQuery to get right. Version tracking is poor or non-existent; if something goes wrong, it's hard to chase it down to an exact tag.

BrightTag: just doesn't feel like an enterprise tool. Also requires a lot of JavaScript even for simple tags.
At the enterprise level, I would recommend Tealium above any other. That's not to say it's perfect, but it's ahead of all the other competition. The others either aren't robust enough (BrightTag) or are too developer-focused (Ensighten).
