Overall Satisfaction with TestComplete
TestComplete is being used mainly by the QA Department to run automation regression tests for older features to make sure nothing is broken when new features are released. This saves us time to allow us to focus on new features while still covering the old features and allows us to catch bugs that would normally be left out because there wasn't enough coverage.
- Supports multiple languages.
- Can create performance tests from scripts used for automation test.
- Supports all current major browsers.
- TestComplete sometimes hangs and it could last for several hours without moving on from the current test case.
- It should allow the user to make a checkpoint when running several test cases to keep track of tests that need to be updated or fixed.
- Should have an option to save all the variables used in the test case.
- Positive: Saves time for regression testing.
- Negative: Support can be lacking even in paid versions.
- Negative: Sometimes the software crashes and loses all your work even if you are constantly saving.
TestComplete is easy to set up and allows you to map certain objects with it's play and record feature. We can then convert that to scripts and use those scripts to update other existing scripts if the Xpath is not being read properly. We compared it to Selenium, which you have to download several products to get working properly and has no support but an online community. It can take several days to get up and running with Selenium. With TestComplete you just have to install the license and you're good to go.
