Overall Satisfaction with The Raiser's Edge

Raiser's Edge is being used by the whole organization, but generally managed by my department. My department is responsible for fundraising and major gifts, so we enter the gifts and make changes and additions. We also use Raiser's Edge for mailing lists, financial reports and keeping donors organized.
  • Raiser's Edge is great for keeping a history of donor giving. IN the non-profit world, employee turnover is high so it is important that the history is there for generations to come.
  • Raiser's Edge is very helpful for donor contact information. Every time a donor sends a new address, phone number, email, we are able to update and track that so it is easy to get a hold of someone. This also goes along with their company titles and locations.
  • Raiser's Edge is very helpful to me with mailing lists for campaigns or events. It removes duplicates and cleans up salutaitons and addresses to make things easier on the employee.
  • When pulling a report it can sometimes be difficult to make sure all parenthesis and query fields are correct. One small mistake can screw up a whole mailing list and if you don't catch it, it can cause the loss of names or donors that you want to reach.
  • One problem my organization has is when one contact person is the contact for many events. They are added under relationship but we are only able to insert one form of contact.
  • I think it has increased employee efficiency because now all information is being held in one hub. We don't have to search several different spreadsheets or files to find something that is right in front of us.
  • The history that is contained in Raiser's Edge is very helpful for current and future employees to always be able to look back to the past and see what people gave even 15 years ago. This helps with future solicitations and to find out donor interests.
I have not used other alternatives.
I think we will always use Raiser's Edge. Our staff have become experts and have learned the best ways to use it. Since we have such a history with Raiser's Edge, it would be more a burden than anything to change to a new system and learn it all over again. It hasn't caused problems where we feel we should explore other opportunites.
I think it depends what the companies use for Raiser's Edge is. It can be very helpful, but it is also a beast to tackle. The company needs to have the properly trained staff to begin using Raiser's Edge. It is also important to set standards so each employee is using it the same way and all information is being entered acurately. This is helpful when searching information to make sure there is no loss of data due to inproper imput.
