Overall Satisfaction with ThoughtSpot

ThoughtSpot is used widely by organization--roughly 300 active users. It allows users to analyze their data without having to rely on a data analyst. By having a true data democracy, all of our users are able to get the data to make well-informed decisions on their own.
  • Self-service data analytics
  • Easily search your data using natural language processing
  • Ease of use
  • Pixel-perfect charting
  • Better documentation
  • Easier to be picked up by a new user
  • We've experienced great ROI over allowing users to serve themselves--fast time to decision.
  • We've trained new data analysts on ThoughtSpot, and depending on their specific dataset, they've been more impactful.
  • Main BI tool used for all organizations.
I've found that it takes roughly a month for users to become proficient in ThoughtSpot. There's some documentation and training on ThoughtSpot's site but it also has a built-in formula assistant that explains formulas and gives syntax examples. It is based on UNIX, so it can be a little different than most people are used to.
The answers that I get as an ad-hoc request that I use ThoughtSpot for are fantastic. ThoughtSpot is incredibly easy to use, so if the data within ThoughtSpot is complete and whole, it is correct.

It is a great tool and I recommend it to anyone.
I give it this rating because I have been the admin of the tool for over a year. It is very easy to pick up and use once you are familiar with how it works. Getting users trained and comfortable with the tool has been the main headache that I've encountered.
Some scenarios where ThoughtSpot is well suited:
  1. If a user is data savvy and needs to get a quick number to answer a question
  2. If a user needs to do simple data exploration
  3. If a user needs to refresh a static dashboard on a regular basis.
Some scenarios where ThoughtSpot is less suited:
  1. Well experienced data analysts trying to learn the syntax of ThoughtSpot
  2. Analyzing custom data sets
