Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO Data Virtualization

TIBCO Support is a great resource. They assume ownership, are responsive, and are able to resolve issues effectively.
We have begun utilizing Data Virtualization while implementing a Data Governance framework. We are in the initial phases of implementation presently. The goal will be to use Data Virtualization across the organization for consumption of data. It will allow us to pull together disparate data sources, transform data when needed, push the data to downstream TIBCO products (ex: Clarity, EBX), ingest the data into an on-premise data warehouse, and reflect the data back to end users.
  • User interface is straight-forward and easy.
  • Ability to connect to data sources is not difficult.
  • Implementation has been seamless.
  • Setup of security is difficult within the tool, as there are nuances.
  • We are in the implementation stage presently. The impact will be seen once we have released the product to the business.
We selected TIBCO Data Virtualization as we had a pre-existing relationship with TIBCO for Spotfire and Data Virtualization offered what we needed. We did not demo or shop for other products.
We purchased TIBCO Data Virtualization to supplement our data governance initiative. We needed a way to pull in various data sources, push the data downstream, and reflect it back to end users for consumption once the data had been cleansed/transformed. If we did not purchase the solution, we would be creating integrations internally to address the needs. The development time would have been overwhelming and would not have allowed us to meet the deadlines required.
Data Virtualization has allowed us to sit an application in front of our data, thereby allowing the migration for end users to be seamless.

Data Virtualization is well-suited to redirect users to a single application and/or data source for reporting needs. It can be integrated with other toolsets offered by the vendor, but other 3rd party applications as well. It can address business logic and data governance issues. The primary conflict we have had is when to use Data Virtualization versus TIBCO Clarity.
