Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO Data Virtualization
We have data coming in from diverse sources. Some of the data come from the operational systems and the rest of it is derived from external sources with whom we have subscriptions for the same. This data is sanitized and transformed into various reports and dashboards which are consumed by customers either in the form of PowerBI/Tableau or are a raw dump of the same. Data virtualization is used by core operational teams only.
- Security & Governance of the data.
- Sophisticated/advanced query engines.
- Data orchestrations.
- Higher learning curve.
- Pricing is high.
- Initial setup is slightly cumbersome.
- Ability to seamless extract and transform data means we are able to share more intelligence with our customers.
- Data Security and Governance are another aspects that our customer believes in and is one of our core values. TIBCO application helps us easily address this.
- Performance is key in this kind of work where the customer really does not want to wait for their data to render as soon as they apply filters.
- AssetWorks Enterprise Asset Management (EAM System), Vaultastic and Oracle Data Visualization Cloud
When we evaluated the pros and cons of each of the competitor applications, what we found is that the pros in Tibco outweigh the cons by a decent margin. Tibco gave us great confidence when we evaluated it in terms of its ability to connect with all the data sources we had in scope with no compromise in overall performance when it came to data extraction and transformation (ETL process). Security was another deciding factor for us and overall security measures that Tibco provided were clearly in line with the standard of our organization and that of our customers.
We rely on multiple data sources to get our data - some are in-house and some are from external sources. These data points cannot be readily used since we need to sanitize this data and rid it of any sensitive information (PII in specific). Post this, necessary transformations had to be applied and then have the data ready for slicing & dicing. This process was very resource-intensive and prone to a lot of human errors. Needless to say the amount of time quality checking this data added to a significant cost. Some of these aspects forced us to look at automated ways to get this done.
We clearly needed a solution that did not involve data replication or relocation. We simply wanted to place data in a central location and virtualize it. The cost of the underlying infrastructure was another factor for us - we did not want to invest in too much storage space or computing power. At the same time, we wanted a methodology to enable data to be accessed by Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or other industry-standard tools.
